New York meets Melbourne

The latest piece from MOOHAHA designs is inspired by a city where street-dice gambling meets upper west side Prada-rites. Where Jewish, jewellery dealers meet up with Italian mafiosos at Starbucks and boot-leggers sell pleather jackets next to Trump Towers.

NY baby, nothing else like it.

'Statue of Liberty' Cookie Bling. This cookie-cutter is for women of mystery and strength. Purchase here.

Thank you to my brave model Maddy who was even willing
to fall off a milk crate x.

Romantic or jumping on the band wagon?

Every European bridge over shimmering water is the perfect setting for romantic movies and drunken backpackers having a chuck after too many beers and pork knuckles.

Many of these bridges have been covered in hundreds of love locks. Lovers write a message or their names on a pad lock and well, for lack of a better word, “lock” it to the bridge. It started in churches back in the ye’ olden days for people to show their eternal love for god.

The “trend” has started in Melbourne on the skipping girl bridge across the Yarra, linking South gate to Flinders St Station. Although I think it looks great and was bloody fun to photograph, I don’t think I’ll be placing a lock any time soon. I’m part of the old school that believe love is so unique and special that by doing something everyone else is doing actually discounts your love.

It’s kind of like seeing a stunning old hand crafted side board with beautiful grains in the wood with dints and imperfections, a one of a kind piece. Then seeing a knock-off at Ikea for a quarter the price, but knowing every uni student and single-bed-apartment will have the same one.

I’m sure every couple has a story behind why they put their lock on the skipping girl bridge and maybe you have to hear their story to find the unique romance. For me, going to the $2 shop to buy a lock and write in white-out on it, isn’t my idea of modern romance. Art yes, but original no. Thoughts?

WEARABLE ART INDEED

What happens when you combine a wanna be creative with InDesign and MOOHAHA designs?

Well, I'm glad you asked. I think it would go a lil something like this.

I have in no way permission to use these stunning portraits.
Please email me if you'd like them taken down.
You know, copyright legal mumbo-jumbo.

STRONG LOVE

Robin Hood could shoot an arrow precisely through an apple placed on a damsel's head.

Since the age of time men have been finding our hearts with pure precision. Although these days it's more likely a man offering you a beer on a sweaty dance floor...

But, Ye' modern women are far from damsels. We are more likely to be aiming the bow and arrow than waiting around for Mr Hood.

MOOHAHA MOMENTS

ITS MOMENTS LIKE THESE... YOU NEED MOOHAHA

There are several occasions where an evil laugh is really the only appropriate thing to do. Here are just a few of them and I can’t wait to hear yours.

- Teaching a mate’s kids how to do reverse psychology on their parents. MOOHAHA

- When your housemate never does the dishes and you accidently drop their toothbrush on the floor and put it back in it’s original spot. MOOHAHA

- When you’re employer says they can’t afford to give you a pay rise this year, prepare a cost breakdown of the $10,000 in lost productivity, knowledge and recruitment fees it will cost them if you resign. And because you’re a loyal employee you will take a $5,000 pay rise in good faith instead of the full $10,000. MOOHAHA

- Attending a marketing focus group and telling awkward stories about your experience with the product. MOOHAHA

- When a mean co-worker asks you to get a skinny latte for them. Order them full fat. MOOHAHA

- If your bins always go out on a Thursday night, put them out on a Monday night, just to mess with your neighbours. See how many put there’s out on the street ‘just in case’. MOOHAHA

Tell me your best MOOHAHA moment.

RING of BLING by MOOHAHA designs

So I wise woman said to me, why don't you do bracelets for MOOHAHA using round cookie cutters?
I smiled and shrugged my shoulders, while internally balking and thinking well that would be boring, just a circle!?

Then I got over myself and tired the idea. The result is (modestly) bloody awesome.

This cookie cutter bracelet was inspired by the colours of Miami. It will warm you up on a cold dreary day or make a plain tee and jean combo go pop. Think flamingos and cocktails on the beach at sunset. Sandy, beach hair and salty skin on balmy nights. Purchase here.

You can also order personalised colours. View more here.

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT

Here's a couple of words of wisdom to brighten your life on hump day.

For a beautiful man I know.

RED FEET STOMPING

RED FEET ROSE

Over the weekend I had the honour of going to Red Feet’s first winery event in the King Valley, Victoria. The Star family put on an amazing spread, plenty of laughs, stunning views and perfect weather, not to mention the beautiful wines (Rosé was my fav).

Stomping grapes was one of the best experiences and great exercise, as my baby-cow muscles found out.

Sitting under candle-jars strung from old wooden ladders, with good mates, a full moon and a belly of wine, I don’t think life gets much better. Can’t wait to return for the opening of their cellar door and the Red Feet 2014 Cab Sav, to say I had a hand (or foot) in the making.
